SC5 Epigenetics: An integrated view of the regulation of gene expression based on mechanisms superimposed on DNA base sequence

Jay Goodman , Center for Integrative Toxicology, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI
This lecture will provide an overview of the key epigenetic mechanisms regulating gene expression: methylation (and additional modifications) of DNA cytosine, histone code and non-coding RNAs. Emphasis will be placed on how these parameters are interrelated. Furthermore, the issues that need to be taken into consideration when contemplating incorporation of an epigenetic evaluation into safety assessment of chemicals will be discussed.
